Description:

Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation of Southern Arizona is seeking a Director of Development to lead the stewardship of corporate, foundation, public, and community donors. The candidate must be innovative and passionate about Candlelighters important mission – Candlelighters supports, serves and advocates for children and adolescents with cancer and other blood disorders, their families, long term survivors, bereaved families, and the professionals that care for them.

The successful candidate will engage staff, board, volunteers and families to maximize funding for Candlelighters in order to continue its role serving local children with cancer (other hematological disorders) and their families.

Responsibilities:

  • Prioritize funding needs for the organization and develop a clear case for support;
  • Development and execution of a sustainable, long term fundraising plan including:
    • Installing a broad-based annual giving program to sustain and grow operations
    • Maintaining a healthy pipeline of major gift prospects
  • Ensure that the contributed revenues meet or exceed the required amounts for delivery of the Candlelighters programs;
  • Raise funds in a cost effective and efficient manner;
  • Identify, cultivate, and solicit major gifts from corporations, foundations, and individuals;
  • Preparation of grant applications and reports in collaboration with other staff;
  • Participation in planning strategic initiative with key stakeholders;
  • Manage and grow a portfolio of current and prospective donors;
  • Oversee acceptance and recognition policies and procedures for gifts;
  • Serve as a respected representative of the Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation of S AZ and its mission;

Requirements

  • Demonstrate some successful experience fundraising in the non-profit world;
  • Excellent written and oral communication abilities;
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills;
  • Well respected within the field;
  • Innovative thinker with a positive attitude and creative problem-solving skills;
  • Proven ability to motivate and energize staff and donors;
  • Experience across digital, traditional and social media platforms;
  • Discretion required managing confidential information;
  • Bilingual language skills (English/Spanish) is beneficial, but not required;
