Community Service Recognition: Josh Plicht

In January, SAVMA celebrated volunteerism at the 2020 SAVMA Awards, a volunteer recognition event for all of Southern Arizona. Organizations were invited to nominate individuals for a Community Service Recognition in honor of their exceptional giving and spirit of service. Throughout the month of April, we will be highlighting these individuals and their nomination as part of VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION MONTH!

Josh Plicht: 2019 El Rio Vecinos President

“Josh Plicht inspired, encouraged, supported and helped lead the El Rio Vecinos to a record year of accomplishments, including $119,000 in funding from proceeds from their 2019 Vecinos Block Party. He has personally invested thousands of volunteer hours in service to others. Who are El Rio Vecinos? A diverse group of 40 young professionals with a collective goal to make a difference in our community through fundraising for the El Rio Children’s Dental Program and providing community service to other non-profits.

Josh was very familiar with El Rio Health, prior to joining Vecinos, as his mother, Donna Plicht is a valued Clinic Manager of the El Rio Northwest location. He had seen firsthand the impact of the health services El Rio provides for those in our community, who have limited or no resources. He and his fellow Vecinos are committed to making our community healthier and paying it forward by raising support for critical oral health care for hundreds of children in need. In 2020, Josh will serve as the immediate Past-President on the executive committee, helping to mentor the incoming leaders.”

Josh says, “Leading Vecinos is one of the most fulfilling things I’ve done. Vecinos members are passionate about El Rio Health and giving their time to such an important community organization.”
