Community Service Recognition: Irene Coppola
In January, Southern Arizona celebrated volunteerism at the SAVMA Awards, presented by the Governor’s Office of Youth, Faith and Family. Junior Achievement of Arizona submitted Community Service Recognition: Irene Coppola, in honor of a dedicated spirit of service. Organizations submitted individuals and groups for Community Service Recognition to share stories of local volunteerism.

Irene Coppola: Junior Achievement Board Member and Classroom Mentor
Irene Coppola is known as the “WHOHOO” cheerleader for her infectious enthusiasm. She is a proud Santa Cruz Valley native and a dynamic leader who empowers others. As President and CEO of the Better Business Bureau Serving Southern Arizona, Irene brings broad experience and a passion for ethical leadership. In her past role as BBB’s Director of Finance & HR, she built a culture of inclusivity and sustainability.
Outside of work, Irene supports youth education through Junior Achievement of Arizona, volunteering more than 100 hours in classrooms to date. She mentors students, inspires them to dream big, and teaches essential financial literacy and career skills. Her hands-on work shows her belief in the power of education and mentorship. As a proud JA board member, Irene champions the mission to prepare young people for success. She uses her voice and leadership to create opportunities for Arizona’s youth.
Irene’s impact reaches across the community. She chairs the Green Valley/Sahuarita Salvation Army and serves as Board Treasurer for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Arizona Donation Center. She also promotes ethical leadership on the Center for Leadership Ethics Advisory Board. Irene is the first Latina CEO of BBB Southern Arizona. Her honors include the Women of Influence – Financial Champion award and AZ19 Most Influential People.
Guided by her belief that “everything happens for a reason,” Irene sees every challenge as a chance to lead, mentor, and inspire.
