Nominations Extended for Congressional Award
Great news! Congresswoman Martha McSally’s office announced deadlines for nominations extended for the Congressional Award.
You can nominate a firefighter, EMT, or member of law enforcement you know by filling out a nomination form and returning it to our office. Southern Arizona’s first responders put their lives on the line every day to serve our community. Now, it’s our turn to recognize them! the deadline is April 8, but we have extended it to May 1, 2016.
The National Emergency Management Association has acknowledged each of the Congressional districts to honor consituents with such awards.

Congresswoman McSally
Congresswoman Martha McSally, holds a B.S., United States Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colo., 1988; M.P.P., John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, Cambridge, Mass., 1990; United States Air Force, 1988-2010; is a fighter pilot; and professor. McSally served in the United States Air Force from 1988 to 2010, achieving the rank of colonel. She is the first U.S. woman to fly in combat and also the first to command a fighter squadron. In 2001, McSally successfully sued the United States Department of Defense in McSally v. Rumsfeld, challenging the military policy that required U.S. and UK servicewomen stationed in Saudi Arabia to wear the body-covering abaya when traveling off base in the country.
She regularly inspires community service audiences with her own personal stories, giving them the courage to be honest about who they are, the path to break free from their past wounds/failures, and the strategy to live the life they really want.
